Helen Cadwell ....
Meet the Artist
Helen is an
art teacher, professional artist, illustrator, and photographer. She
drew pictures almost constantly as a youngster. Following high school, she
completed an Associate Degree in Fine Arts and subsequently pursued her
studies in Architectural Engineering at the University of Havana, Cuba.
As a young college student, she worked as an Illustrator and Technical
Artist.
Since graduating,
Helen employed her engineering knowledge to good use while working as
Engineering Designer in various Architectural and Engineering companies in
California. Strange as it may seem, an engineering background is extremely
helpful to someone who paints in any medium. In engineering, you learn to
think and plan in an orderly fashion, with great attention to details.
Executing good works of art requires a great deal of planning. Engineering
also provides training on the drafter's drawing board.
Her photography
experience was extremely helpful as reference material for her paintings.
Photography has been a semi-professional hobby for many years. She taught
Photography as an Art and also Technical Drawing, at the American School of
Madrid, Spain.
While in Spain, Helen
continued her advanced studies in art while living in Madrid, Bilbao and
Barcelona.
With an exciting
blend of technical expertise and a passion for details, Helen creates
dramatic portraits, inspirations images, florals, landscapes and seascapes.
The realistic images are many-layered, from decorative to symbolic and
contemplative. Helen's work is often commissioned and found in private
collections.
